our production values & how we give back
made by hand. paid for fairly. giving back.
most of my garments are sewn by a women's co-operative in mumbai that has been going since 1984. women come to it from the city's slum communities and learn to sew.

alongside the work, there's childcare, health insurance, a savings program and sponsored schooling for their children.
some stay for years.
some leave and start their own businesses, which is the part i like best.

the mumbai co-operative holds guaranteed fair trade certification, which means an independent body audits the wages and the working conditions rather than me simply telling you they're fine.
i've worked with them for three years now, and for the same three years with a second group of artisan makers in india, who make my pet line.

we care about the fabric used too, and all our pajamas are made with organic cotton. other garments are made with either 100% cotton or a cotton blend.
the rest happens here. i embroider most of my designs myself, and screen print or use transfers when a design calls for it.
the chicago flag pieces are done star by star, with grosgrain ribbon sewn on for the stripes, which takes about as long as it sounds!

and for every chicago throw sold, one is donated to a safe haven foundation, a chicago charity that houses and supports people in crisis. not a percentage of something. one blanket, every time.
this is what you're buying when you buy from me.
